GRAPE - RED GLOBE GRAPE
Common Name: Red Globe Grape
Botanical Name: Vitis vinifera
Specimens From: China
Grapes, a favorite fruit from the old world, dating back several thousand years ago. Grapes are often used and depicted in those movies where the kings and queens been fed by their subjects.
There are several species of grapes but more than 90% of the cultivated grapes are from "vinifera" species (also known as the European grapes), which is native to the Mediterranean and central Asia. The minority of several other species, comes from the America continent.
Grape production is mainly divided into 4 uses:
Wine grapes: For wine making
Table grapes: For eating as fresh fruits
Dried grapes: For drying and eaten as snacks, known as raisins
Juiced grapes: For canning as grape juice, jam and preserves
There are several thousands of cultivars but most of those, we probably never get to see it as almost three-quarters of the production, went into wine making. France, Italy, Spain, Turkey and the USA are consistently among the top few countries leading in the production of grapes, mostly for the wine industry but China is the top producer of table grapes, mainly of this "red globe" variety.
Red globe grapes are primary used as table grapes and belongs to the red group as it has red skin. It is almost round, similar to a globe and hence the name given. It is large as it is among the largest berries in the grapes family. This variety of grape is well-known and considered as good quality grape even though it is seeded. It is sweet, with plenty of juice but also comes with plenty of big seeds too!
Fruit: Grapes; Vitis vinifera; Vitaceae.
Other fruit in the same family: Calmeria Grapes

I love grapes! This is one fruit I like to eat whenever I get the chance.
ReplyDeleteWhen I was a little girl, my grandmother told me not to swallow the seeds. I could get appendicitis, she said. I wonder whereever she learned that. She wasn't a doctor.
ReplyDeleteOne of my favorite grapes - just had some a few minutes ago!
ReplyDeleteI love grapes but it's kind of uncomfortable when there are those big seeds. I prefer white ones, they usually come seedless :D

these are some of the best grape varieties available... seeded grapes are natural and ALL SEEDLESS grapes have been GENETICALLY MODIFIED so be aware. Genetically modified food is not natural and is chemically imbalanced.
ReplyDeleteRed grapes love it also and red wine as well. Grapes were so very expensive but there a lot of people who does love to buy it. especially before new years eve. They got into thinking that if you have these 21 round fruits - you'll have this luck for the rest of the year.. Well I don't believe in such thing.

Last December I purchased red globe seedless grapes and cannot find them anywhere now. From everything I've red the red globe grape only comes with seeds. What could I possibly have eaten that was so delicious?
ReplyDeleteGrapes can be eaten raw or they can be used for making jam, juice, jelly, vinegar, wine, grape seed extracts, raisins, molasses and grape seed oil. Grapes are also used in some kinds of confectionery. Grapes are typically an ellipsoid shape, specifically a prolate spheroid.
ReplyDeleteMany fruits are usually high in fiber, water, vitamin C and sugars. Fruits also contain a variety of phytochemicals, vitamins and minerals. We won’t get into the specifics here, but they are very essential to health and vitality. Drinking fruit smoothies can be a terrific and fun way for you and your family to get these nutrients into your body. Not to mention, if you substitute a meal with a smoothie, and the smoothie is combined correctly, it can be an extremely nutritious meal, with few calories in relationship to the average meal. The best way to get this result is from a highly regarded nutritionist who runs a busy nutritional practice. Natalie Savona is just that. Natalie answers the question:Are smoothies healthy?
